Remember Remember the 5th of November
agosto 12 2024 – Justin Mickens
ELECTION DAY IS NOVEMBER 5TH!
Mark your calendars. Set a reminder on your phone. Maybe even consider getting a tattoo of it. But do not forget to vote. We feel so strongly about this, that we’ve released a new “Remember, Remember 2024!” t-shirt. Not only will this shirt keep the election date in the front of your mind, but it will also remind the people around you. If we’re going to defeat Donald Trump this November, we need to get as many people to the polls as possible.
In 1980 Paul Weyrich is quoted as saying, “I don’t want everybody to vote. Elections are not won by a majority of people. They never have been from the beginning of our country, and they are not now. As a matter of fact our leverage in the elections quite candidly goes up as the voting populace goes down.” Paul Weyrich is the co-founder of the infamous conservative think tank, The Heritage Foundation. You may recognize that name because they are the group responsible for Project 2025, the terrifying Republican battle plan that seeks to fill the government with Trump loyalists. The right doesn’t want people to vote. The policies and ideologies they support range from the unpopular to downright un-American.
In contrast, many progressive policies are popular among the majority of Americans. Increasing the minimum wage, legal access to reproductive health services, and limiting the influence of lobbyists all poll above 50% for both Democrat and Republican voters. The progressive agenda is the American agenda. Getting many people to vote is one way to fight for positive change.
TYT has created an entire page full of resources for voters at TYT.com/resources. Here you can register to vote, get a preview of what’s on your ballot, and much more. It’s also important to mention that just because the election is on November 5th doesn’t mean you can’t vote sooner. In some states, voters can cast their ballots as early as September 20th. So if you can vote early, please do.
The election is sooner than you think, So as long as you Remember Remember the 5th of November, we can move this nation forward together.
