Cease Fire Now!
octubre 11 2024 – Justin Mickens
Tensions are building up in the Middle East and we need a ceasefire right now!
Last fall, the world watched in horror as Israel was attacked in a massive coordinated assault. It was the deadliest day in the nation's history. Over 1,000 civilians died. Over 200 people were kidnapped. TYT reported on this event on October 9th. Cenk viewed the events of that attack as “awful.” That sentiment is just as true today, as it was then. The hearts of the world went out to the grieving citizens of Israel.
However, in the year since October 7, 2023, a new tragedy is unfolding. The Israeli government’s bombings of cities and refugee camps have resulted in over 40,000 dead civilians. Many of them were under the age of 1. They have since spread their military operation into Lebanon, Syria, and Iran. The international community is pressuring Israel into negotiating a ceasefire deal. Unfortunately, reports from inside the Israeli government suggest that Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, is actively working to sabotage the peace talks.
This conflict began generations ago. To understand how the situation has gotten this bad, one must understand the complex histories of the region and the empires that have risen and fallen across the centuries.
We want to focus on RIGHT NOW. Innocent people are dying right now. Innocent hostages are living in captivity right now. To end the suffering and give lasting peace a chance, we need a ceasefire right now.
A further escalation of war will only hurt more innocent people. It’s time to take a stand. TYT member and long-time contributor, Imran Sheik, designed ShopTYT’s Ceasefire collection for anyone who is not afraid to wear their values for the world to see. 10% of the proceeds raised from your purchase of these items will be donated to The Palestine Children’s Relief Fund.
Wherever you go, show the world that you are on the side of peace. But know this, you are not alone. A ceasefire is what most Americans want. It’s what most of the world wants. Above all else, it’s what’s right.
