Pass That Bill!

Sen. Cory Booker (D-NJ) has proposed legislation that would legalize the use of marijuana, and would expunge all marijuana-related crimes, convictions, and arrests. This bill also includes protections against racial bias, and aims to fund community programs that aid in job training, and other public services.

Although Sen. Booker is not a favorite amongst progressives as he raises plenty of money from Wall Street, this bill is an essential start towards ending the useless, costly, and ineffective War on Drugs in America. This is a war that has cost approximately $1 trillion over 40 years, has put many of innocent people in jail, and has enabled racism, as well as police brutality.
