Oaklandish and TYT are teaming up to get out the vote!

There's no place quite like Oakland. Situated in the Bay area of Northern California, this scenic city is home to stunning views and natural wonders. It is also the second most diverse city in the United States and is credited as being the inspiration for Walt Disney's Disneyland. 

Over the years, the residents of Oakland have pioneered an activist spirit that has inspired the nation. In the 1940s, It successfully organized and implemented a general strike. It is the birthplace of the Black Panther Party and in 2016 the local government created one of the first Department of Race and Equity in the nation. 

Today, Oaklandish works to illuminate Oakland’s local history and unique cultural legacy. Their mission is to spread “local love” by way of civic pride-evoking tees and accessories while creating quality jobs for Oakland residents. This election, we’re teaming up with this Bay Area icon to promote one of the greatest acts of civic pride - voting. 

Oakland is a special place but the issues that plague that city are not. They need solutions for housing and healthcare, and they too want to see an end to the endless wars. The easiest way to see change on these issues is to vote. 

This election is important. But so is the next one. All elections need your attention. Don’t let your civic responsibilities be limited to once every four years. TYT and Oaklandish are teaming up to promote voting in all elections. We have two new T-shirts that you can wear to make your voice heard. We have one shirt for your trips to the ballot box and another displaying how the weight of your vote can overtake the corrupting influence of money in politics.
